8-365 Bananas

I arranged the banana peels into something like a flower, then shot it like I would if I was taking a macro photo of a flower.

This was taken with the aid of an old light box for viewing negatives and some foam board set up around and under the light box. Camera mounted on a tripod. Used my macro lens.

A little lame, but I was too wiped to do anything else, and I need to practice my food photography anyway...

Not happy with the outcome of this photo, but that's the reason I'm doing the 365...to learn.  I couldn't really tell that the exposure wasn't quite right in the LCD screen...

1-1: The Witness Tree

And so it begins! I've been so excited to start this 365. One of my friends is doing one as well and we both waited for today, the first day of the new year, to begin. I am really hoping it will be challenging and a great learning experience.

Thanksgiving 2010

This Thanksgiving I decided to go beyond just snapshots of the family and try to really capture what goes into creating one of our family's Thanksgivings. Hope you enjoy.

I Am Coming Back...

I've made the decision to attempt a 365 starting in 2011.  I have been all but ignoring this blog, although I don't ignore my photography.

Over the past year my photography has taken a shift. Lately, I have been spending more time working on portraits than on my nature photography.  I never thought I would like taking portraits, but I do. And I can make more money at it...at least for now.

Focusing on portraiture is not enough for me. I need to get back to my roots.  One way I am going to do this is by doing a 365.  I am sure there will be some portraits without a year of pictures, but it will also force me to go back to nature shots, which is my original love.

I am really hoping to gain a lot of experience with a 365. I am excited and ready to start, but I know how much work one is. There are so many days where there just isn't enough time to really set up a shot or look for something interesting. This biggest problem, however, isn't finding time to take a picture, but finding the time to get them off my camera, onto the computer, then uploaded to a site.  I am ready to do it. I know I will be loading pictures onto this blog, but am also toying with loading them onto my Facebook page and Flickr (but that's 3 times as much work, so...?). Luckily, Blogger has made it much easier to load large photos. I no longer need to go through a multi-step process to get large photos.

I'm hoping you will join me in this photographic journey through the year 2011.
