I love dogwood trees. In my area of the Ozarks, the woods are sprinkled with them and there is always a week or two when these beautiful white trees can be seen from every roadside.

I always hate to pick them, but I wanted to enjoy some inside the house and since I was leaving in a few days and they would likely be dead when I got back...I decided to go ahead. If I remember correctly, these are supposed to be St. Patrick's Day Daffodils and are supposed to be slightly green in color, but I never ...notice that they are.

The one meant to be in focus isn't as sharp as I would like because the wind was crazy and I didn't have any way of blocking it without help...

Tiger Lily

This photo of a Tiger Lily in my front yard is not touched up in any way. I took this when the sun was shining right on the lilies. There was still a few drops of water on the flowers after a summer shower.

Climbing Clematis

I have had these clematis for years now, but this is the first year they've ever really bloomed. For the last three years since I planted them, something has always happened to them. Usually it's my uncle running over them with a lawn mower before I can get them to start climbing the pole. One year I had them started climbing the pole and then my mom killed them with the weed eater. I'm so glad that they are finally living up to their potential!

These Japanese Water Irises have taken over my backyard fish pond. In fact, I'm pretty sure there aren't any fish anymore. It's going to be quite a job to pull these out because the root structure is enormous and much too heavy to lift.

I noticed my bleeding hearts are just sending out buds and will be blooming next week. That is, of course, if this weekend's cold snap doesn't kill them.

The Scents of Spring

These little purple beauties (Grape Hyacinth) were one of my favorite flowers as a kid because of their smell. My great grandmother had them all over, and I loved to pick them. I would carry them around all day and smell them.

I never could get the focus on these just right. I couldn't use a tripod because I needed to be low to the ground. I tried using my pod, but the lens was too heavy, and the camera kept slowly moving. I worked on the speed, but there was a lot of camera shake because of the position I was in and then there was the wind. Still, I wanted to share this photo with you; I did like the composition.

Pear Blossoms

My pear trees are starting to blossom! I've only had them for a few years and they have more than doubled in size. Give them a few more years and they will really start doing the job they were planted to do: create a boarder along my yard for both privacy and to block some of the dust that rolls off the county road all summer long.
